Taking in the Good: Unlocking Health and Happiness
A Transformational Workshop
What is it and what will we do?
Have you ever wished that you felt more gratitude or happiness in your life? If you are like me, it seems that more often than not, it is the exhaustion or disappointments of daily life that draw our attention. Like when my computer wasn't working a while back. I was more aware of the frustration of being inconvenienced by technology than waking up to yet one more day of breath, sunshine and singing birds. Interestingly, there is a reason why we tend to focus more on the negative rather than see or remember the positive.
Besides the consequences of our own trauma and regular life stressors, this trait innocently comes to us from our ancestors who were far more vulnerable to natural disasters, tragedy, poverty, and illness. They literally had to remain alert to these potential dangers to stay alive. Unfortunately, this has left us far more skilled (or habitual) in noticing and remembering negative experiences (and even expecting negative experiences) than noticing, relishing, and taking in the positive ones.
This interactional and experiential workshop is intended to provide practical ways in which you can actually begin to shift these negative neural patterns. It will involve structured exercises and shares that encourage mindful presence, authentic relating, and gentle self discovery. Through instruction, experiential processes, partner shares, small and large group shares, mindfulness, movement, and nourishing community, you will receive several tools that can be used to unlock a daily and steady flow of happiness, goodness, and joy.
But is this for me?
If you are looking for more joy, peace, centeredness, vibrant aliveness, and connection to God and your own heart, this workshop is for you. During our time together, there will be no need to perform or show up in a certain way. It is my (Janelle's) intention to provide a supportive and nourishing space in which you can simply "be," just as you are!
